Workplace Productivity Essentials

Practical workplace training in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, in 37 lessons, available in French and in English.

Description

Most people learn office software by being shown one task once, by a colleague who is in a hurry. What is missing afterwards is not talent — it is the ordinary, reliable habits that make a document open properly on someone else's machine, a spreadsheet total the right cells, and a message reach the right people.

This course teaches those habits, in the four applications a working adult actually uses. It begins with files and the working environment, then takes Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook in turn, each from the beginning of practical use.

It is built for someone who already uses a computer but has never been taught these applications. No prior competence in any of the four is assumed at any point.

Each lesson states what it teaches, shows the interface path, and stops. The course is delivered as pages that open in a browser and are worked through in order, with a French and an English version of every lesson.

The course ends with one practical piece of work the learner does and checks themselves.

Who it is for

Adults entering or already operating in professional and workplace contexts who need practical ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook for common workplace tasks.

Assumed starting point: basic computer familiarity — keyboard, pointing device, opening an application. No prior Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Outlook competence is assumed.

The problem addressed

Office software is learned by imitation and gaps go unnoticed. The learner can perform the one task they were shown and not the neighbouring one; work is redone because a file was saved in the wrong form; a spreadsheet is trusted because it looks finished.

The course states, for each of the four applications, the practical competence a workplace actually requires, in an order where nothing depends on something not yet taught.

The outcome

The learner carries out common workplace tasks in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook without being shown each one first, and completes one final practical piece of work drawing on the course as a whole.

repeats the course's own statements. The architecture states in terms that the course does not promise expert mastery, Microsoft-issued certification, external accreditation, professional qualification, guaranteed employability or mastery of the complete Microsoft 365 ecosystem. The commercial record may not claim what the course content does not support, and here it deliberately repeats what the content refuses.
